Matsuoka Mine

Matsuoka Mine was a mine in Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture. It is located near the boundary between Yuzawa shi and Ugo-machi. Gold, silver, copper, lead and zinc were mined. (Discovered around 1596 ~ closed in 1947) It is said to be discovered during Keicho year (1596 ~ 1614). At one time it was a success that was expected as a promising mine next to the hospital silver mine, but due to the intermittent vein it repeated the dormancy and re-mine, and from the rest to the present due to the major flood damage in 1951 . It is still managed by Dowa Mining. Private line was extending from Yuzawa station.
