吉乃鉱山 (Yoshino Kōzan)

吉乃鉱山(よしのこうざん)は秋田県横手市(旧・平鹿郡増田町)にあった鉱山。大日本鉱業により経営された。 1720年頃の発見とされる。 大正期に大鉱脈が発見されたことにより秋田県南部を代表する黒鉱鉱山ともいわれ、他に黄銅鉱、黄鉄鉱、重晶石などを産出。3000人超の労働者が集まり、町には鉱石を運ぶ鉄索や水力発電所などのインフラも整備される。1918年(大正7年)には国鉄十文字駅と増田町とを結ぶ吉乃軽便鉄道の事業免許が取得されたが、着工されることなく中止された。 亜硫酸ガスによる大気汚染やカドミウムを成分に含む鉱毒による水質汚染など公害も発生、製錬所の設置については地元民の反対運動も展開された。 1957年(昭和32年)に閉山。 閉山後、長きにわたって鉱毒対策が行われ、現在はすでに完了している。 主鉱床であった熊ノ沢鉱床は陥没し現在は窪地になっている。他に宇土沢鉱床(うどざわ - )、増田鉱床があった。 山の斜面に選鉱場跡が見られる。朝鮮人労働者の墓などが残っている。

Yoshino mine

Yoshino mine (Yoshino Kozan) is a mine located in Yokote, Akita Prefecture (formerly Hiraga-gun Masuda Town). It was managed by Dainippon Mining. It is regarded as discovered around 1720. It is said to be the Kuroko mine which is the representative of the southern part of Akita Prefecture due to the discovery of the large vein in the Taisho period, and also produces chalcopyrite, pyrite, bistrostone etc. More than 3000 workers gathered, infrastructure such as iron ropes and hydropower stations carrying ore is also set up in the town. In 1918 (Taisho 7th year), a business license of Yoshino Light Railway linking the Nippon Steel Cross Station and Masuda Town was acquired, but it was canceled without construction. Pollution such as air pollution caused by sulfurous acid gas and water pollution caused by mineral poisoning containing cadmium as a component occurred, and locomotive opposition campaign was also developed for setting up a smelter. Closed mountain in 1957 (Showa 32). After closing, long-term countermeasures against pollution have been made, and it is already completed now. The Kumanosawa deposit which was the main deposit has collapsed and is now depressed. In addition there was the Uozawa deposit (Udazawa -), Masuda deposit. Trace of the mining site is seen on the slope of the mountain. Tombs of Korean workers and others remain.
