三池炭鉱有明坑 (Mīke Tankō Ariake Ana)

三池炭鉱有明坑(有明鉱)は福岡県みやま市にあった炭鉱。 1958(昭和33)年より日鉄鉱業が開発。人工島を建設し竪坑と坑道を掘削、第一竪坑櫓を建てたが、1967(昭和42)年に断層と湧水のため工事を中断。その後、三井が買収し工事を継続、1976(昭和51)年に出炭開始。1997(平成9)年閉山。 1984年1月18日に発生した三井有明鉱火災事故で知られる。坑道内に設置されていた旧式のベルトコンベアが整備不良から発火し、周辺に付着し堆積していた炭粉に着火、火は一気に鉱道内に広がった。。一酸化炭素中毒などで83人が死亡する大惨事となった。 閉山後、しばらく放置されていたが、2007(平成19)年に売却され大半の施設が解体された。残っていた2基の竪坑櫓も大規模太陽光発電所建設のため2012(平成24)年解体。
