女牛鉱山 (Jo Ushi Kōzan)

女牛鉱山(めうしこうざん)は岩手県紫波郡紫波町にあった鉱山。 金・タングステンが採掘された。 天正年間に長岡城主家臣の及川氏が一族で盛大に採掘したことにはじまるとされる。 1895年には松下氏の所有となったが、その後経営は千田氏、木曾氏に移り、1932年には長谷川氏が富鉱に着鉱、一時は重要鉱山に指定された。その後は松尾鉱業が当鉱山を買収した。 第二次世界大戦が勃発すると、金鉱山整備令によって他の金山が閉山に追い込まれるなか、女牛鉱山は採掘金属を砲弾などに用いられるタングステンに切り替えて採掘を続けた。しかし終戦とともに採掘を終了し、戦後の一時期採掘を再開したが、採掘経費の増大などを理由に閉山した。 地図はおおよその地点。
