奄美大島要塞 (Amami Ōshima Yōsai)

奄美大島要塞は、奄美大島と加計呂麻島に挟まれた大島海峡防備のため設置された大日本帝国陸軍の要塞である。 1921年から砲台工事に着手したが、1922年2月、ワシントン軍縮会議による太平洋防備制限条約により工事は中止となった。ただし、要塞設置自体は行われ、1923年に要塞司令部が開設された。 1941年9月6日に帝国国策遂行要領が決定されると、同月10日に奄美大島要塞の要塞部隊の動員・臨時編成が下令された。11月8日には準戦備が発令され、開戦後は周辺海域の防備にあたった。1944年5月に、主戦力の要塞重砲兵連隊を野戦的性格も持つ重砲兵連隊に改称された。連合国軍の上陸は無く、防空戦闘程度で終戦を迎えた。 現状、安脚場砲台のみが安脚場戦跡公園として公園整備されている。また西古見砲台も定期的に清掃などが行われており、容易にアクセスできる状況にある。その他の砲台は植物が繁茂して自然に帰っており、ハブなども生息しているため見学には命の危険を伴う。

Amami Oshima Fortress is a fortress of the Japan Empire Army that was set up for the Oshima Strait Sandwiched between Amami Oshima and Kakeroma Island. Construction was canceled due to the Pacific Defense Restriction Treaty by the Washington Conference on Disarmament in February 1922, although we began to build the turret from 1921. However, the establishment of the fortress itself was carried out, and the fortress headquarters was opened in 1923. In May 1944, the fortress heavy artillery regiment of the main force was renamed the heavy artillery regiment having a field-like character as well. There was no landing of the Allied Armed Forces, and the end of the war was brought about by air defense battle extent. Currently, only the Anbashibashi Battery is being developed as a park as the Andean Field Battle Park. The Nishikami turret is also regularly cleaned and is in a situation where it can be easily accessed. The other boats are plants growing abundantly, returning to nature, hubs and other inhabitants, so there is a danger of life to visit.
