1979（明治12）年、吉良川小学校長者野分校として創設。 1952（昭和27）年、吉良川小学校長者野分校を廃止し、長者野小学校として独立。吉良川中学校長者野分校分離独立。多い時には130名ほどの生徒がいたという。 1978（昭和53）年年、吉良川小・中学校に統合となり廃校。閉校時には中学生0人、小学生5人であったという。 朽ちた木造二階建て校舎と体育館が残るが、崩壊が進み半壊状態となっている。 校庭では錆びた鉄棒が雑草に埋もれている。
