(Maikawa Shōgakkō)

Maikawa Elementary School (Northern Elementary and Junior High School)

Maikawa Elementary School (Northern Elementary and Junior High School) is a school located in Konan City (formerly Kagami Town) in Kochi Prefecture. Maikawa Elementary School was established as the former Nishikawa Village. When Nishikawa-mura was divided by the Showa merger, it was incorporated into Kagami Town and became Kagami Town. In 1963, it was merged with Yodogawa Elementary School and renamed Northern Elementary and Junior High School along with Maikawa Junior High School. Due to the depopulation of the area, a junior high school was closed in 1981 and an elementary school was closed in 1982. The school was closed in 2004. After that, the Maikawa Campsite opened using the school grounds. A bungalow was installed in the corner of the schoolyard to make the schoolyard a free site, while a wooden schoolhouse was stored and managed for the purpose of reusing toilets. As of 2019, the campground is closed (*). However, local residents sometimes hold events using the site and are still managed. (* There are various theories about the actual campground closure and the start date of the closure. At least as of 2015, the prefecture's public relations reported the activity report of the facility, but conversely, it was already closed in the same year or the following year. As of July 2019, the neighborhood was not popular in spite of the season, and the offices and camp facilities seemed to be left for a long time.) Remains.
