(Karuizawa Ginzan)

Karuizawa Ginzan

Karuizawa Ginzan (Karuizawa Zinkan) is a silver mine found in Karuizawa, Yanatsu-cho, Kawanuma-gun, Fukushima Prefecture. It is the best silver mine in Japan which was mined from late Warring States Period to the middle of Meiji era. During the closing of mountains due to the famine of the Edo period, the Aizu clan gently protected and continued to carry a part of the clan's kitchen after that. In the heyday, 1,000 houses gathered eaves, and there were post offices and idyllic figures. Suddenly closed down due to rationalization in 1896 (Meiji 29). It was re-examined by the Japanese mining entering the Showa era, but it has not reopened business. Currently, the tunnel is closed and almost all the buildings are torn down, only the huge brick smelting chimney tells the story of the time, but the collapse of the upper part of the chimney has begun and approach is dangerous.
