深田鉱山(新望銅山、岩屋鉱山) (Fukata Kōzan)

深田鉱山(新望銅山、岩屋鉱山)は熊本県球磨郡あさぎり町にあった鉱山。 江戸期に発見され稼業するも休業。1881(明治14)年、上村氏により再開。1892(明治25)年、岩屋鉱山として稼業。1913(大正2)年に高田商会の経営となり最盛期をむかえるが1923(大正12)年に休山。 1930(昭和5)年、新望鉱山株式会社により、新望銅山と称し再開、1945(昭和20)年休山。 1951(昭和26)年、三井金属鉱業株式会社により、深田鉱山と称し再開、1954(昭和29)年採鉱中止。1974(昭和49)年鉱区放棄。 コンクリート遺構や人家の跡が見られるという。管理されているらしい。
