読谷村掩体壕(座喜味の掩体壕) (Yomitan Mura 掩 Tai Gō)

読谷村掩体壕(座喜味の掩体壕)は沖縄県中頭郡読谷村にある旧日本軍の掩体壕跡。 米軍の空襲から戦闘機を守るための格納庫である。当時、高さ5m幅20mほどの壕がおよそ10ヶ所に作られたという。 1945(昭和20)年4月、米軍が上陸、飛行場は占領され、戦後は長く米軍管理下に置かれた。その後返還され、1978年頃の資料では7基と記載されていたが、2003年時点で3基残存。2010年に2基が解体され、残る一つが戦争遺跡として保存さている。 掩体壕は返還された読谷補助飛行場の滑走路の北の端に位置する。 読谷補助飛行場は滑走路の長さ2000m、航空機の駐機場誘導路1500mあり、米軍占領下ではパラシュート降下訓練演習場として使用されていた。返還後は一般道路として使用され、現在周辺は道路開発整備が進められている。
