鬼村鉱山 (Onimura Kōzan)

鬼村鉱山は島根県大田市にあった鉱山。 1909(明治42)年に鵜鷺村(出雲市大社町鵜鷺)の山師商人・岡有市氏が仁万に宿泊した際、以前に鬼村で石膏を採って薬品として販売していたことを知ったのがきっかけとなり採掘が始まったという。 1918(大正7)年、鉱山所有者の塩田万市氏が大阪石膏(株)を設立、鬼村鉱山のほか松代鉱山、出雲市の鰐淵鉱山、鵜峠鉱山の経営を行うようになった。昭和初期には、島根県の石膏生産量は全国の7割に達した。 その後、品位が低い出雲の鉱山は閉山となったが、高品位の松代鉱山、鬼村鉱山は稼働し、第二次世界大戦中には海軍の兵器用としての指定も受けていたという。 1943(昭和18)年の水害で坑道がすべて水没したもののの半年で復旧、1967(昭和42)年まで操業された。 大正時代に鬼村と静間の間に道路がつくられ、後にトロッコ軌道が整備された。トロッコは1940(昭和15)年まで使用された。 倒壊した複数の建物、トロッコ巻上機基礎、石膏洗浄場跡やその他のコンクリート遺構、トロッコレール、ワイヤーロープなどが見られる。 付近には「鬼村の鬼岩」と呼ばれる地域のシンボル的な奇岩がある。新第三系中新統久利層の粗粒凝灰岩~火山礫凝灰岩で構成される急崖である。

Onimura mine

It was restored in half a year, although all of the tunnel was submerged due to the flood in 1943 (Showa 18) year, it was operated until 1967 (Showa 42). During the Taisho Period, a road was created between Onimura and Shima, after which the truck orbit was improved. Trucks were used until 1940 (Showa 15). Multiple collapsed buildings, trolley hoist machine foundation, gypsum cleansing site trace and other concrete remains, truck rail, wire rope etc are seen. There are symbolic rocks in the area called 'Onimura no Oni' in the vicinity. Coarse-grained tuff of the Neogene series Miocene Kuuri Formation - It is a steep cliff composed of volcanic gravel tuff.
