美祢炭鉱(荒川坑) (Mine Tankō)

吉部鉱業美祢炭鉱 は、山口県美祢市にあった炭鉱。 明治期には海軍省により経営されており、大正に入ってから民間に払い下げされた。その後、宇部興産山陽無煙鉱業所に引き継がれたが、1970(昭和45)年閉山。その後1980(昭和55)年より吉部鉱業株式会社美祢 炭鉱として採掘を再開したが、1991(平成3年)閉鎖。 ホッパー跡などは解体されてしまったが、2001年9月に荒川水平坑が市指定有形文化財に指定された。

Mika coal mine (Arakawa pit)

Yoshiabe Mining Mizuki Coal Mine was a coal mine in Mimaki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It was operated by the Ministry of Navy during the Meiji era and was paid to the private sector after entering the Taisho era. After that, it was succeeded to Ube Industries Sanyo Smokeless Mining Plant, but closed in 1970 (Showa 45). Since then, it was restarted as Mika coal mine Co., Ltd. at Yoshiabe Mining Co., Ltd. from 1980 (Showa 55), but it was closed in 1991 (Heisei 3). Hopper traces and the like have been disassembled, but in September 2001 Arakawa Horizontal pit was designated city designated tangible cultural asset.
