(Daitō Kōzan)

Daito Mine (Toyama City)

Daito mine (Daito Kozan) was a mine located in Toyama city (Oyama-cho, Toyama Prefecture). Located near the current Takahigahara Onsen. Daito mining mined pyrophyllite ores containing molybdenum. In 1931, Daito Kogyo started mining. Due to the extremely mountainous location, engineers heading for mines sometimes froze and thawed while climbing. During World War II, there was also material difficulties, mining 30 tons of ore per year. In the 1960s, Daito Kogyo started preparation for the full-scale operation of the mine. I moved the office and employee dormitory from near Takahigahara Onsen to the present place of Takaharahara Sanso. From the beginning, the dormitory was supposed to accommodate climbers' accommodation as well. From the same year to 1964, along the right bank of the Kurobe River to Yakushijazawa's meeting, built the Daito new road which will be used as a mountaineering trail later. Without full-scale operation of the mines, in the 1970s the management rights of the mountain village were handed down to local mountain hut managers, and the mining rights of molybdenum moved to the hands of executives of Shinto religious groups and closed down. The map position is Takahara Hometown.
