見立鉱山(日之影町) (Mitate Kōzan)

見立鉱山は、宮崎県西臼杵郡日之影町にあった鉱山。主に錫が採掘された。 江戸時代から採掘されていたが、本格的な採掘は1917年頃から始まった。第一次世界大戦後の金属価格下落により休山。英国人実業家ハンス・ハンターが買い取り英国資本の法人「東洋鉱山」を設立、近代化を進めるが、太平洋戦争直前の国際情勢悪化によりハンターは経営から身を引き、東洋鉱山はラサ工業の傘下に入る。敗戦と同時に休山し、戦後再開するも、海外からの安い鉱石に押されて昭和44年に閉山となった。 建物等は解体されているが、石垣や住居の基礎跡などが山中に見られる。
