奥新川変電所 (Okunikkawa Henden Sho)

奥新川変電所は、宮城県仙台市青葉区新川の山深くに残る変電所跡。 1937(昭和12)年11月に全通した仙山線に直流電流を供給するため、東北初の直流変電所として開設された。1968年、仙山線全線の交流電化完成によりその使命を終えた。

Okushinagawa substation

The Okushinagawa Substation is a substation trace that remains in the mountains of Shinkawa, Aoba-ku, Sendai-shi, Miyagi prefecture. It was established as a DC substation for the first time in Tohoku in order to supply DC current to the Sendai line which was in full in November 1937 (Showa 12). In 1968, completed the mission by completing AC electrification of all the Sennyan lines.
