(Kyū Jikan Kyō)

Old time bridge

The old time bridge is an abandoned bridge in Saiki City, Oita Prefecture. It is a concrete bridge over the Nakadake River, located about 1.5 km upstream of the Nakadake River from the Gegenka Bridge, just below the Current-Time Bridge. It is said that the name comes from the fact that, before the war, when the Nobeoka Forestry Department's Tolco carried timber, it was timed to separate on a single line. Construction began in 1958 (Showa 33), and it was submerged by the Kitagawa Dam, which was completed in 1962 (Showa 37), and replaced the existing bridge in 1960 (Showa 35). It has been in the water for a long time since the start of the operation of the Kitagawa Dam, but it has appeared for the first time in 50 years with a large drought caused by record light rain at the beginning of 2011 (Heisei 23). At the time of dam drought, it is possible to confirm the underwater appearance from the present time bridge bridge. Other bridges that were submerged at the Kitagawa Dam include Tashiro Bridge and Natuki Bridge.
