検見川送信所 (Kemigawa Sōshin Sho)

検見川送信所(けみがわそうしんじょ)は現在の千葉市花見川区検見川町にあった逓信省、日本電信電話公社(電電公社)の無線電信所(送信所)である。逓信建築の代表作のひとつ。 対外国通信を目的とした施設であり、また日本で初めて短波による標準電波を送信した施設でもある。 太平洋戦争(大東亜戦争)中は南方の占領地との通信拠点だった。表現主義の本館は東京中央郵便局を設計した逓信省技師の吉田鉄郎が設計した。 1979年に施設を廃止した。現在、建物は本館のみが残っており敷地も含めて千葉市が中学校用地として所有している。 建物は取り壊される方針であったが2007年8月に発足した「検見川送信所を知る会」が中心となって保存運動を展開した結果、市は当初の方針を見直しその歴史的価値の再検証と今後の処置を検討中。2009年3月24日、重機によって侵入防止用の鉄板などが破壊されているのが見つかる。
