(Kanzaki Hofuman Kama)

Kanzaki Hoffman Kiln

Kanzaki Hoffman Kiln (Kanzaki brick Hoffman type wheel kiln) is an industrial remains in Maizuru City, Kyoto Prefecture. Takemura Kiln, a brick manufacturing company, began with the establishment of Kyoto Takemura Tango Kiln in September 1897 (Meiji 30). Originally it was a straight climbing kiln, but around the end of the Taisho era, the main chimney and the kiln with a height of 24 m were reused as a part of the ring kiln, which was improved into a Hoffman type wheel kiln. As the demand for bricks declined in the 1950s, the original soil also started to bottom, so the operation stopped around 1945. It is managed as an industrial heritage.
